Life Happens

The last 2 days have been horrendously busy. Little time for the sewing room and I haven't felt good. Still recovering from complications due to surgery. I have the pattern for the Simplicity pants graded for my large waist and hope to have my workable muslin put together tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Next in the queue is a Santa Monica tee in some really cute material from Gorgeous Fabrics.

OOPS!

I got out Simplicity 3756 yesterday to begin alterations to the pattern. I'm not sure I will like this pattern on me as my waist definition is in the toilet and I didn't realize that this is a high waisted style. But that's as far as I got. The RV place called to say our new fifth wheel was ready for us to pick up. That took a couple of hours as we went through the whole thing kinda like a walk thru on a new house.

Then hubby wanted me to go with him to get wheel chocks and add grocery shopping to the mix and my day was shot!

Anyway, back to S3756. I have long legs and as somebody said in their review on PR this has a 40's look to it I'm hoping for the best. Will make the toile out of slightly stretchy poly whatever that was given to me years ago by my MIL. Nothing planned for today except the sewing room!

BS Burda Style

It's time to renew my Burda Style subscription and I think I am going to pass. I love many of the patterns, but they are appropriate for someone many years younger than I am. Being 5'10" with a large frame puts me in the plus sizes even though I am not overweight. Too many of the plus sizes especially the dresses and tops look either maternity or matronly. I am 60 plus and definitely wouldn't like to have either of those looks.

Soooooooooo I am going to pass on renewing my subscription.

Best laid plans

Well, I had planned on doing a lot of sewing in the month of April since I am off work post surgery. BUT, things are not healing like they were supposed to and I have an abdominal abcess that causes pain if I sit up for too long. So I look at my fabric and all the cute shirt patterns I recently purchased and I want to cry.

Doesn't stop me from buying more fabric tho. I just received a wonderful soft knit in light blue with musical notes in red green and white, plus stretch denim from Gorgeous Fabrics. It's the first time I have ordered from Ann and she did not disappoint!! Will be ordering again.

I am hoping I will be well enough to sit and sew for longer periods of time by the end of the month. I have the Jalie jeans pattern everyone raves about and am going to take the jeans class at pattern review.

Til next time, Karen

I have plans!

I am home from work now since March 1st. Had 2 major abdominal surgeries in 3 weeks. Healing is slow, but I am feeling much better.

I have plans for a couple pairs of capris, some jeans, and about 7 tops. I am a very slow, picky sewer so I am not sure how much I will get done before I go back to work.
Especially the jeans. I have never attempted them before, but I have trouble with fit having a large waist and very long legs. We'll see. I have the Jalie jeans pattern and am following the jeans sew along on PR.

I also have a TON of UFO's and mending to do.
